A special opening event will take place on April 17 at 19:00 at the Trianon Theater with a performance by the local symphony orchestra and a special presentation of images from The World at Night, an IYA2009 Special Project

The meeting will include an exhibition of "Earth and Sky" images from The World at Night (TWAN), Digital Mobile Planetarium sessions, astronomy clubs exhibits, a special exhibiton "Extraterrestrial" (organized by the National Museum) and a special exhibit of models of Brazilian Rockets (Aeronautics and Space Institute/ CTA).

All presentations, workshops and exhibits except the opening event will be held at Centro Federal de Educacao Tecnologica (CEFET) de Campos dos Goytacazes (Rio de Janeiro - Brazil).
